Lincoln Leapers
The Lincoln Leapers Jump Rope Team is an energetic group of skippers from ages 5 to 27 with a total of 28 members. The Team is based out of Lincoln, Ontario. The Leapers represent the Niagara Region and the Heart & Stroke Foundation of Ontario. The Team also operates a recreational skipping program, the “Little Leapers”, with 75 jumpers involved.
The Lincoln Leapers have been a team for 26 years and have traveled across the lobe competing in a variety of events and performing hundreds of shows. At the Maple Leaf, Toronto FISAC World Championships the team had a great showing of its 12 jumpers with a 2nd place master’s freestyle finish and 6th and 7th place overall finishes in the Double Dutch category.
The team has performed at numerous corporate functions and festivals throughout Ontario including the Toronto Raptors half-time show for 6 years, Breakfast Television, Vaughn Mills Mall for the movie Jump-In promotion.
Previous performers have provided instruction on jump rope skills and routines for the world famous Cirque de Soleil. A Leaper alumni, Christine Cadeau, was a full-time touring performer with their show for 5 years. Two former Leapers, Chelsea and Carley Simpson, performed on the Disney Movie “Jump-In”. Tanya Verbeek, a Leaper alumnist, won a silver medal at the 2004 Olympic games in wrestling.
The Leapers Head Coach is Kristine Melloh, with assistants Jamie Smith, Sheena Swierenga, and Kaylin Hersics.
The Leapers look forward to many performances in 2008, to the US Junior Olympics and the World Championships in South Africa.
