The Hamilton Hoppers, formed in 1982, currently has a membership of 22 young athletes ranging in age from 7 to 22. The team promotes rope skipping by performing demonstrations in and around the Hamilton/Toronto area at Festivals, schools, community events and for individual groups and organizations. In previous seasons the team has performed at the First Night Toronto festival held at the Skydome and the United Way Sponsored P&G Leaps and Bounds Walkathon in Nathan Philips Square in Toronto. Senior members of the team were video taped for a music video by Kid Kut, a Toronto artist. Hoppers can be seen every year in the Hamilton Santa Claus Parade. Over the years, team members have won numerous awards at Regional, Provincial and National Competitions, have appeared on several TV programs and have been honoured with Civic Sports Achievement Awards. The team runs a fall and winter/spring recreational program as well as Saturday skills workshops in late November and April. We also organize a Summer Skills Camp in mid to late August for both competitive and recreational jumpers. Our athletes and coaches are dedicated to the sport. Visit our website for more information and follow the email links to get more information on any of our programs. The team is coached by Sandi Kish and Lisa Muldoon, both long time competitive jumpers. |
